Supplements

As a nation, we eat poor quality foods that have been stripped of their nutrients.  The Western diet is comprised mostly of processed and refined foods.  We eat a tremendous amount of prepackaged, pre-made meals.  One quarter of Americans eat at fast food restaurants each day.  We are overfed and undernourished as a nation.

It can be very confusing to decide which supplement is providing any quality benefit.  Understanding the label can go a long way in helping you know you are taking a quality supplement.  Look at the ingredients in the product. Do you recognize any of them? When choosing supplements, quality is far more important than quantity.  A small amount of a whole food vitamin is more beneficial to the human body than a large dose of its manmade counterpart.

Most people take a supplement to the supply the body with nutrients missing from our diets.  Changing what we eat can potentially eliminate the need for supplements all together, but for many, this is difficult to accomplish.  Supplements, however, are not all the same.  Many contain single nutrients in high amounts.  Research now suggests that single nutrients, taken out of the whole food complex, may not be as effective in promoting health as eating the whole food.  Whole foods offer essential nutrients, both known and unknown.  The foods and supplements many of us are eating are not providing our bodies with the nutrition they need to survive and be healthy. Given proper nutrition, the body has an amazing ability to heal and survive.  This and many other reasons are why here at Parchem Chiropractic Center, we carry and recommend Standard Process supplements.
